Stay calm with a snow globe

In Beth Kempton’s book, Calm Christmas, she invites you to explore what a more mindful festive season could look like for you. Full of tips and advice for slowing down, staying calm, and finding true connection with others, it offers a welcome retreat from the pressure to create the ‘perfect’ Christmas.

Try the following exercise to increase your ability to stay calm through the festive period.

create a christmas calm moment

If you feel yourself getting overwhelmed, take a moment and imagine that you are inside a Christmas snow globe. You’re behind the glass, the sounds are muffled and all you can hear and feel is snow gently and calmly falling all around you.

take some time out

Observe what is going on for you at that moment from a safe distance and breathe deeply in the calm quiet until you’re ready to come back out of the snow globe.

If you try it, I’d love to know how you get on!
